Our Review
Looking back on the movie, the script was a little disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, Bruce Almighty was a funny movie – but Jim Carrey could make a peanut funny. So it left me wondering slightly where the rest of it was.
The story tells of how Bruce, unhappy with his life and thinking he could do a better job that god, ends up meeting up with him and guess what, God (Morgan Freeman) gives Bruce all his powers while he presumably takes a vacation.
Wanting to be a reporter, Bruce just happens to be at the news spots just at the right time – it’s almost as if he knows when a natural disaster is going to happen. But he soon realises that making everyone’s dreams come true is not the best way to run the world.
The movie doesn’t lack humour, it is a funny film. But if you are looking for anything deeper, or with any kind of meaning it all other than a nice sentiment you’re looking in the wrong place. The concept behind it seems empty too but perhaps films just as Ace Ventura have spoilt us.
As much as I liked this movie there is really nothing in it. No hidden meaning, not much meaning in it at all for that matter. No creativity, no imagination, no inspiration. But watching emo 24 / 7 isn’t health and if you need to relax, this is a funny movie.
