Our Review
I was first drawn to this film when I came across the concept of a society that maintains itself by controlling its old people. My extremist views led me to people saying, wow, like that Logan’s Run movie. And so began my quest to find this movie.

For those who aren’t aware of the concept, humanity now lives in giant bubble cities and everybody wants for nothing. The only problem is to maintain the city resources and such; everyone at thirty goes on carousel. Though they cling to hopes of being renewed, deep down it must be known that the thing is just killing them.

Of course not everybody wants to go on carousel. They have police type people known as sandmen to deal with them though and Logan (Michael York) is one of these people. However the central computer, wanting to find a rebel movement called sanctuary, sets him up as a runner and sends him off to find it.

He and Jessica (Jenny Agutter) go for a run and end up in the outside world. Not wanting to totally spoil what happens though I will say no more. Although it appears to be little known, Logan’s Run is based on a series of books. In the books though the age was twenty one (as will be used for the upcoming remake) however it was changed for this movie as they couldn’t get that amount of extras. And they say no useful information was ever spoken on audio commentaries.

Of course the costumes and settings are clichéd seventies settings but there is a good reason for that considering the movie was actually made in the seventies. Considering it’s time, Logan’s Run actually features some impressive special effects. Of course, no matter how good they were back then they are pretty disappointing.

It is a quite entertaining story though, there is plenty of changes of settings to keep the movie following and has a classic happy ending although that was to my disappointment. In my opinion though it is a movie worth watching just for the concept.
